EventAlert privacy policy

EventAlert, by PPS Apps — a trading name of Pre Production Services (UK) Ltd (company no. 08749222). Draft, last updated 1 November 2026.

In short

EventAlert has no accounts, adverts, analytics or tracking. Everything about an event – its details, the alerts sent, guests' names, answers and replies – is end-to-end encrypted before it leaves the phone, so we can't read it. Guests are removed automatically when the event ends.

For organisers

Your own iCloud. Your Projects, alerts, templates, settings, Guest List, Notifications history, counts and Recently Deleted items are kept in your own iCloud account, so your devices stay in step. We have no access to your iCloud. Your own devices (and Apple Watch) can be alerted through iCloud and over your local network, end-to-end encrypted.

The event server. Events run on Google Firebase (servers in London). The server holds the event and its Guest List (encrypted; Guest List codes only as scrambled checks), the alerts you send (encrypted), the event photo (encrypted), your scheduled alerts (encrypted, with their times), anonymous IDs for you and your devices, and push addresses so replies can reach your iPhone or iPad. Google's servers only see random IDs, push addresses, times and encrypted data.

What you see about guests. Each guest's name (if they give one), their answers and Guest Groups, their replies and poll answers, and when each alert reached them and was read. For a Wedding, the table and meal choices you set, and each guest's Ice Breaker answer. For Junior Sports, each entrant's age group, boy or girl, and the events and races they enter.

For guests

Joining. You join by scanning the event's QR code – in EventAlert, its App Clip on iPhone, or a web page on other phones and computers. There's no account: the server gives your phone a random anonymous ID. Your name is optional. Your name and answers are encrypted so that only the organiser can read them.

Alerts and replies. Alerts reach you through a push address (Apple's, or your browser's through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging). Your replies and poll answers are encrypted for the organiser. The organiser can see when an alert reached you and when you read it.

Location. If the organiser limits joining to an area (for example the venue), your phone checks once, on the device, that you're there – or, in the App Clip, Apple confirms it without giving the App Clip your location. Your location is never sent to anyone, including the organiser or us.

Ice Breaker (Weddings). Your answer is shown to the others at your table without your name; the organiser sees it with your name.

On the web page. The events you've joined are remembered in your own browser only (its local storage), never in a cookie.

When it ends. When the event (or one of its Live times) ends, the server deletes its guests, their replies and answers, receipts and the alerts sent. You can leave an event at any time, which removes you from it straight away. If an organiser removes and blocks a device, the event keeps that device's anonymous ID so it can't rejoin without a Guest List code.

Children

EventAlert isn't aimed at children under 13. For junior events, a parent or guardian should join on a child's behalf.

Camera and photos

The camera is used to scan event QR codes and take photos for alerts or the event. EventAlert can only add photos to your library when you tap Save; it can't read your library.
